Clox App Reviews

19 Customer Reviews:

I have been looking for a clock app that can display two or more clocks on my desktop, for different time zones. When I travel, I leave my MacBook Pro on my home time zone so that I dont mess up my calendar, so I want to be able to see the time where I am as well as at home. Clox works as described, works properly with Spaces (I have no idea about Mission Control, as I havent upgraded to Lion yet), and theres no dock icon. I can set clocks to float over other windows, with transparency so I can see throiugh them, and with the ability to click through them (you have to turn off the click-through feature to move a clock). The analog clock styles are great, but my only complaint is that the digital styles are terrible. They are all tacky, cheesy styles. How about a few simple digital styles like a HUD-style clock, a flip clock, a classic LED clock, and that sort of thing?

I bought this app because I liked the design of the Clox.app, but apparently, I cant have that clock style, why is that? Its the cleanest of all the styles, the rim is not too large, and the large letters really help on my desktop. Can you please provide that as a style?

I bought this app and like the options available, especially the “always on top.” I have used Clox on my PC’s for years and find them perfect for the job. However, like the other reviewer I am diappointed that the classic style is not offered: clear 1-12 numbers, clean hands, thin bezel and white face. In fact it was quite like the desktop clock that used to be included with the Apple/Mac OS. I miss that one too.

You need to at least have all the state captials in the list. St. Johns Newfoundland does not present the correct time (NL has a special time zone.) I too would like the style used by the app icon or one like it.

Nice and Cool. Very simple to Use. This is enough for the desktop clock. I like the smart clock styles. Much better if there are more simple and smart styles, though.

Not sure but something isnt grabbing me!

Tied the various clock styles but for some reason I am not convinced. I hope they add some normal styles.

Disappointed

The clock is to big and the time is wrong for the place. How can I remove it from my desktop?

Has just the features I was looking for to have a clock in view all the time, particularly in full screen mode. Opacity and size adjustment is great. A couple of things would give it a 5 star rating from me (since they asked for comments): -I am looking for simple/very basic digital and/or face clock that is easy to see when in full screen mode and opacity turned down. (Aim is to have it as unobtrusive as possible but still visible). None of the styles quite achieve the optimum here. -the smallest setting isnt quite small enough for some of the styles. -Hide the dock icon option (like I have with Launchbar) and hide menubar too (remember, maximum unobtrusiveness is my goal) would be nice. Otherwise, great app. Thanks!

The small issue is that the label that you can add to the clock has a letter limitation. Unfortunately, its so limited, I cant add my city (or even a local city) name to it. This need to be fixed or expanded. Other than that, this is a wonderful app that I would recommend.

Im looking for something unobtrusive and always on top so I like the transparency, size, re-position, and click-thru options. But Id like to see more designs that are just clock faces with numbers and seconds marks. In the plastic style, what is the small solid black hand for? An alarm would be useful too.

10% processor usage? Really?

The only clock that can blend in, but the processor usage of their daemon is extremely high, 10%. Till that gets fixed, not recommended.

Works well.

2 stars because of CPU usage. Needed to stop using it because of that. Liked the look.

Good but need more traditional styles

Love the concept. But Id like to see more traditional, class style designs. Similar to the icon of the app.

After a restart, the clocks are still in the settings, but not on my desktop so I have to delete them and recreate them each time. Id give it 5 stars if that was fixed. Im probably going to look for another choice as this is quite annoying.

This app does what it’s supposed to, with good options for placement and size. I would like some more very basic options though, for both the analog and digital styles, because the current options are all a little gaudy. My other problem is that this application seems to use a lot of power, and when I’m running on battery, with Clox running my battery drains almost twice as quickly. I don’t know if this is a problem for others, but it forces me to quit Clox when I want to work off of my battery for a long period of time. This is not the best thing. Not terrible, but also not perfect.

I just want a basic digital clock! The developers seem to think their product’s selling point is all the “whacky” clock styles. I don’t think so. We want: - always on top - check - opacity - check - click through - check - nice tasteful basic designs - not so much They’ve asked for feedback, but don’t seem to be listening, since others are saying the same thing. As soon as they give us some sensible digital clock styles, my review becomes 5 stars. Here’s hoping….

Overall a great app with lots of clock styles and opacity and size control. You can even add several clocks. But one thing it lacks is retina support. The clocks don’t look hi-def. Other clock apps all seem to have it, and if this function could be added, it would probably be the best one I’ve used.

What would take this app from good to great would be a few more simple, non-fancy designs. Specifically, I would like an option for a digital clock. In my dream world, it would just be the numbers on the screen, no extra features at all (maaaaybe a contrasting rectangle behind the numbers). It would let me use my choice of fonts, have a slider for clock size, and a choice of colors for the numbers and the background. Most importantly, it would have a slider for TRANSPARENCY! My use case is as a performing musician, playing in clubs and raves, where it’s often dark. My software needs to be fullscreen, but it would be awesome to have a big clock overlaid over the whole screen, transparently so I could still use my software, but big enough numbers that I could look over from ten feet away and still see instantly what time it is. I’d settle for a big, simple digital clock that I can move out of the way if I need to.
